Casey McGriff recently won the title of Miss Alabama International. Casey is a very active student at a local Community College. She occupies her free time working with the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society. Casey is involved in her community as a K-Life Student Leader and a Student Mentor. She also volunteers her time at SEACT, her town’s Library, the Elementary School, Hawk Houston Boys and Girls Club, and at varies city events. Because of her academic excellence and community activities, Casey has been awarded Who’s Who among American Junior College Students, Outstanding Student of America Award, U.S., National Leadership Merit Award, U.S. Achievement Academy "All-American Scholar" Award, was voted "Best All-Around Girl" by the faculty and staff of her High School, and currently holds a 4.0 GPA. Casey has also been crowned Geneva County Junior Miss and Miss Slocomb 2005. Her platform focuses on illustrating to the public the importance of learning to "Read Well." It is a platform that she has chosen to encourage parents to teach their children some basic literary skills before they enter school to aid in their development. "I believe teaching children to take advantage of their opportunity to learn to read at an early age will empower them to achieve greatness in their futures," Casey said.
